Cookie Policy
This policy explains the single local preference used by the Desert Crawl website. It is separate from anything the Desert Crawl mobile game may store on a phone. Last updated 23 October 2026.
What this notice covers
Desert Crawl Support Desk, 46, 52 Lady Lawson St, Edinburgh EH3 9DW, United Kingdom, publishes this cookie policy for the Desert Crawl website. Desert Crawl is a mobile game about crossing endless dunes on a gigantic crab fortress, firing cannons, repairing machinery, and defending a crew. The website explains that mobile game. This policy explains the small amount of storage the website itself uses in your browser. It does not describe every file the mobile game may keep on a handset after you install it. If you only came here to read about crew roles, passes, or the desert world, the storage below is the whole of what this site writes.
Current storage
| Name | Type | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| iron_route_cookie_ok | LocalStorage | Remembers that the Desert Crawl cookie notice was accepted. |
The stored value is a simple yes. It is not your name, not an email address, and not a record of which cannon you fired in the mobile game. The key stays in local storage on the browser you used when you closed the notice. It is not sent to Desert Crawl as a profile, and it is not shared with advertisers. We keep the technical name iron_route_cookie_ok so the existing site script can find the same preference after you return. Changing that name in this policy would not change the script, so we describe the name the website actually writes.
Why a notice appears
When you open a Desert Crawl page, the site checks whether iron_route_cookie_ok is already set to yes. If it is missing, a short notice explains that one local preference will remember the closure. If you choose Understood, the browser stores that preference and the notice stays hidden on later visits in the same browser. If you do not choose it, the notice can appear again. The point is housekeeping for this website, not tracking how you play the mobile game. We do not use the preference to decide which dune, crew, or pass to recommend.
Cookies and local storage
A cookie is a small text file a site can ask a browser to keep. Local storage is a similar browser cupboard that a page script can read later on the same device. This Desert Crawl website uses local storage for the notice and does not set an analytics cookie, an advertising cookie, or a cross-site tracking cookie. There is no shopping basket, because the site does not sell passes by itself, and there is no login cookie, because the site does not open player accounts. If your browser blocks local storage, the notice may return each time you visit, and the rest of the pages about the mobile game should still be readable.
Analytics
No analytics cookies are currently included on this website. We do not embed an audience counter, a heat map, a social pixel, or a video network that would drop extra cookies while you read about Desert Crawl. Ordinary server logs may still exist for security, as described in the privacy policy, but those logs are not a cookie in your browser and they are not used to follow you from the cannon deck pages onto unrelated sites. If we ever add a non-essential cookie to the website, we will update this policy, name the cookie, and ask before it is stored where the law requires that ask.
The mobile game is separate
Installing Desert Crawl on a phone or tablet is not the same action as accepting the website notice. The mobile game may keep its own saves, settings, or store receipts under the rules of that build. Those files live with the application, not in the iron_route_cookie_ok cupboard of this website. Clearing the website preference will not delete a fortress save inside the mobile game, and removing the mobile game will not clear the website notice.
Browser control
You can clear local storage through your browser settings. The notice may appear again after you clear site data, close a private window, or switch browsers. You can also block storage for this site only, which leaves other websites alone. Steps differ by browser, so use the help section of the browser you actually run. We do not require the preference for you to read the Desert Crawl pages. Blocking it only means the notice cannot remember that you already saw it. Do not send us screenshots of unrelated cookies from other sites if your question is only about iron_route_cookie_ok.
How long it lasts
The preference does not carry an expiry date of its own. It remains until you delete site data, until the browser removes storage, or until we change the website so that the key is no longer read. We review this policy when the site changes. The current version is dated 23 October 2026. A future version will keep the same plain description: name, type, and purpose. We will not quietly add a marketing cookie under the same key. If the mobile game later needs a different website tool, that tool will be listed in a new row of the table above rather than hidden inside this one preference.
Your questions
Questions about this cookie policy can be sent to [email protected] or made by phone on +441316297412. Post can go to Desert Crawl Support Desk, 46, 52 Lady Lawson St, Edinburgh EH3 9DW, United Kingdom. Tell us the browser you use and whether the notice still appears after you choose Understood. The desk replies Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm. Please do not include passwords or payment numbers. A short note is enough for us to explain the local preference and to point you back to the privacy policy if your question is really about a support email or about data inside the mobile game.
